Digital Sales Assistant

KRIV/KTXH, the Fox O&O in Houston, TX, is looking for a Digital Sales Assistant to join our team.  This position is responsible for the day to day tasks involved with Local Digital and National Digital sales order entry process. These tasks include order entry, contract maintenance, contract reconciliation with sales and finance and posting of contracts. The Digital Sales Assistant will also be responsible for the coordination and maintenance of Wide Orbit paperwork, as well as the filing of all contracts.  Strong mathematical skills preferred.  Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary.

Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Advertising, Marketing or Business preferred. Minimum of two (2) year experience and prior broadcast sales assistant experience preferred but not required.  Must have good communication skills and be able to interface with Account Executives. Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize, multi-task and perform at a high level in a fast paced environment.  Must be computer proficient and have a working knowledge of Excel and Power Point.  Position will be required to learn industry specific software and create sales presentations.

Reporter

FOX 26 HOUSTON is seeking a reporter who is passionate about breaking news and breaking stories of interest to our community.  This candidate must have excellent writing abilities, strong story-telling skills as well as be creative in their presentation. Candidate must also have the ability to report live from the field.  If you are great live, we want to see your link.  This candidate must want to own the big story and be able to develop sources.   This position requires the ability to effectively work with the team in collaboration with producers, associate producers, production staff, photographers and managers. Must engage on social media in accordance with newsroom digital newsroom standards.  Should be able to shoot and edit material for all platforms.

Minimum 2-5 years on-camera experience in a medium or major market preferred. Bachelor’s degree required; journalism or a related field preferred.  Must possess excellent on camera reporting, interviewing and writing skills. Must have strong on-camera live reporting ability in breaking news and other unscripted situations. Accuracy in reporting and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines is required.  Ability to shoot and edit stories for air preferred. Strong computer skills and knowledge of I-News preferred.  Ability to disseminate crowdsourced material while maintaining newsroom standards for fact-checking information for air and digital platforms. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours/shifts/shows; early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Must have a valid credit card and driver's license.

Weather Anchor/Meteorologist

KRIV, the Fox O&O in Houston, TX, is seeking a meteorologist who is an excellent, knowledgeable and professional communicator and presenter that explains weather conditions and helps the viewers prepare for their day or for a severe weather event. Use weather data from several sources to interpret and then verbally and visually present current weather conditions and forecasts for broadcast, digital and social channels. Has the ability to ‘tell the weather story’ and interpret weather and climate trends for the layman; not simply just refer to weather graphics and maps. Must be able to report live in the field during weather events as well as features. Must be able to contribute packages for weather specials and special projects. Must have a passion for winning weather and making the station’s weather team the most-watched and relied on in the Houston market.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use station’s weather equipment, radar and graphics effectively and creatively to produce and present weather information.
  • Deliver information in a clear, understandable and pleasant voice, using proper phrasing, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and emotional range.
  • Must be a strong communicator (written and oral) and possess a pleasant on air personality
  • Work effectively live in studio, on location or in taped settings.
  • Be active on social media; engage viewers; promote stories in newscasts and on websites.
  • Effectively communicate emergency weather information to the public in a clear, calm and concise manner.
  • Stays abreast of current and developing weather technology, equipment and industry changes.
  • Make recommendations to the News Director and the News Operations Manager on equipment, software needs and in advance for any potential budget planning purposes.
  • Work on multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
  • Work effectively with news management and newsroom personnel to develop content and production of newscasts and digital content
  • Work effectively with a team of studio personnel, including production techs, floor directors, and engineers.
  • Act as ambassador for the station to foster public goodwill.
  • Adhere to all professional broadcast journalism standards in regard to legal and ethical issues for on air and digital.
  • Display and maintain professional appearance and demeanor, based on newsroom standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Job Qualifications:
A minimum of five years’ experience working as a weather anchor in a medium or large market preferred. Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science or related field preferred. AMS Seal or NWS certification preferred. Hurricane and severe weather forecasting experience a plus. Working knowledge of weather and newsroom computers. Ability to ad-lib effectively with news anchors. Good news judgment and knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices. Excellent people, writing and communication skills; must be a team player.

Producer

Fox 26 KRIV, the Fox O&O in Houston, TX, is seeking a dynamic, passionate and creative Producer who loves live television and thrives on creating unique content, shows and newscasts. This position will be required to find impactful culture-shaping content, book guests and produce segments for a live talk/entertainment show with a national and OTT appeal. This candidate must be able to produce innovative newscasts, live breaking news, live specials as well as pre-planned news programming. Strong journalistic standards required. You must have strong live control room skills and be able to write accurately and quickly particularly in breaking news situations. You must have complete line producing skills including: writing and editing, developing a rundown, creating graphics as well as video editing. Thorough knowledge of social media and how to manage social media engagement preferred. Our producer must be a strong communicator and have leadership skills and be able to give direction while at the same time being a team-player and collaborator. Must fully participate in the editorial process that leads to story development and work with anchors and reporters to bring their stories to air. You may be required to perform other duties including but not limited to: desktop editing, digital content production, field producing, special projects and occasional assignment desk duties. Other duties assigned as deemed necessary.

Photographer/Edtor

If you love creative control, FOX 26 KRIV, the Fox O&O in Houston, has the perfect position for you.  We are looking for a talented and passionate off-air staffer who is a "preditor" (photographer/editor).  This position has the ability to produce, shoot, and edit on their own.  The ideal candidate must be an excellent storyteller who possesses both writing and technical skills.   You must be able work well under pressure and can complete tasks with a quick turnaround for a daily, unique, non-traditional news/talk/entertainment program, which airs five nights a week on both the local station as well as streamed national on an OTT digital platform.  This position will be required to find impactful culture-shaping content, set up interviews for their stories and arrange logistics.  While taking ownership of the content you are developing, the candidate must also be able to collaborate with the program’s anchor, management and other members of the broadcast team. Will be required to maintain all legal and journalistic standards in story development.

Qualified candidates must have success writing, shooting, editing, and producing news packages for all platforms, television and digital.  Should be able to create graphics and will be required to contribute content to our digital platforms.   Must have knowledge of DSLR and high-end production cameras, as well as non-linear editing software (Edius and Adobe Premiere). Experience in After Effects is a plus. May also be required to field produce as well as other assignments deemed necessary.
